Getting Ready...Experimental Post

We've been looking forward to this for years, and now we're only three weeks away from beginning our 'retirement trip' to New Zealand. We visited NZ in 1990 (can it really be that long ago?), and we loved the countryside and the people. We vowed to return, and...here we go! We hope to eat and drink well, do some walks (signed up for Kepler and Waikaremoana so far), rent bikes when we settle down for a few days, swim a bit, see fabulous countryside and meet good people. We hope that when we return to Canada in mid-March, winter's back will be broken, and we can enjoy a prairie spring and summer.

We're wrapped up in the practical stuff: visas, GPS issues, communications back home, what to pack for the NZ summer, including risk of poor weather and allegations of snow on Kepler, baggage allowances, etc etc. Car rental. Where to cycle on road/mountain, which leads directly to health insurance!

  1. Hi there....and Happy New Year (it's just after midnight on Jan 1) I see you set up a blogsite. We leave for NZ in the morning, so hope to gather some good info for you, and have a bit of fun myself. BTW, I purchased a converter/adaptor that works for AU and NZ if you want to borrow it.
