We arrived in Wellington today via the InterIslander ferry from south island. The boat was huge and carried 1600 passengers and 600 vehiles; and the ride was smooth. The drive to our hotel on the Terrace overlooking the water was a bit of a screamer. Ate at a great restaurant called Fidel's and had yummy pizza and beer and chatted to a few locals. This area is quite funky and we will see the Monet exhibition tommorow as well as Billy Connelly tommorow evening.
This photo is of Apple Rock taken enroute to the Abel Tasman walk. Other photos of that hike to follow. M

  1. We got your postcard last week. Thanks for remembering us. Claudia is off to visit her Mom next week. Wally & I can really spread out then. You guys are having a wonderful time. You'll have to tell us about the Kiwi beer - i just had my first "beer" lesson and learned all about how they make the different types of beer - including a very nice citrus-flavoured hops that makes for a pleasant. but different taste. We will be planting in the greenhouse next week - very little snow in the mountains - so we're enjoying high alpine X-country trails. - Cheers, Wayne & Claudia

  2. Hi Margaret, Hi Bob,
Just returned from BC (+6). Why am I so happy to be back in Wpg (-32 with the wind)?

Sounds like your trip is turning out to be just what you hoped for. We're looking forward more pics.
